Explaining CBD to a first timer
If you have never tried CBD before and are slightly nervous about it all, this blog is for you.
When it comes to taking CBD, there is nothing to be apprehensive about. We’ve got you covered…
What is CBD?
From the moment we are born, we naturally produce compounds which are called endocannabinoids. These compounds are similar to CBD so really, it’s already in our body. This is why taking CBD is so important in supporting our health and wellness.
Every human and many animals too have a system present in their bodies known as The Endogenous Cannabinoid System. This system could possibly be the most important psychological system involving in establishing and maintaining your health. This system is so heavily involved in our health that it can actually restore balance when we are ill or make poor lifestyle choices.
Our Endocannabinoid System which is in every human, helps our immune systems, protect our brains, help us manage stress and even keep our bodies in balance so its vital we keep this system ticking over. Most of us do not realise that our bodies are producing cannabinoids all of the time.
The ECS is our body’s very own control system whereby it is constantly working to keep everything in balance. By topping up this system with cannabinoids through taking CBD it ensures we are reaching our peak performance every day.
We come into this world with calcium in our bones, then as we grow, we lose some of it. In later life, we’re then told to take supplements to keep our bones healthy…CBD works exactly the same.
CBD is legal, because hemp is legal in the UK. Hemp is a plant that is safe, natural, and non-toxic. It can be used for almost anything. There need not to be any grey areas when it comes to CBD.
When it comes to cannabis, drugs tests pick up THC (the compound that does make you high). Drugs test are carried out because THC is known for the feelings of euphoria it provides and this is the illegal part!
Most hemp oil or CBD products are sold with much lower levels of THC (less than 0.2%) so most consumers will never have a problem passing a drugs test.
Why do I need it?
CBD is simply a non-intoxicating component which has enormous potential. Your state of mind etc. will not change if you take CBD at all. Although it can make changes in the body- this isn’t one of them.
The way we extract CBD allows us to pull all of the natural and beneficial nutrients out of the cannabis plant without getting anything nasty in there as well. Not only are you NOT getting high, but you are getting a product from us that’s natural and safe.
CBD provides a source of essential nutrients, vitamins, minerals, healthy fatty acids like Omega-3, protein and it’s organically grown too.
Maintaining a healthy lifestyle while incorporating CBD into your routine is the best thing you can do to protect yourself from all forms of illness.
Regardless of your age, CBD has dozens of wellness benefits. Many of us realise the important of “balance” in our daily lives. Balancing work and play is a critical part of our physical and mental health. Using CBD as a daily supplement is a great way to support your bodies Endocannabinoid system and keep it in balance so why not use it as a preventative!
What products should I start with?
There are many ways you can choose to take and enjoy CBD. It is a very versatile product! Below are two of our most popular products, however we do have an extensive range including vapes, balms and edibles too. Check out are full range by clicking the link at the bottom of the page.
- CBD Oil
CBD Hemp Oil is made from high CBD, low THC hemp. Hemp contains only trace amounts of THC, and so these hemp oil products do not get you stoned nor do they alter your mind.
The oil is simple, easy to use and helps to support your overall health and well-being. It comes in a spray bottle. All you need to do is lift your tongue, spray, hold for 60 seconds and then swallow.
The taste is acquired and with it being totally natural is known to taste ‘earthy’-if you find this unpleasant, have a glass of water after you have held it in the mouth for 60 seconds or something quick to chew.
Every person is different when it comes to dosage. Generally we say use 10-20mg everyday. In one spray of the oil there is 5mg so we say at the most use the oil 4 times a day.
2. CBD Capsules
Our capsules are a great way of getting CBD into your system without having to taste the hemp.
Most people should be having 1-2 capsules a day for the CBD to get into their systems. You are ok to take them on an empty stomach although we do say try with food to start off. No need to slow down your active lifestyle; simply add CBD capsules to your daily vitamin routine.
Each capsule contains 10mg of CBD which is a very good dose for most users. We recommend taking 1 capsule with food 1-3 times a day.
Generally, we see customers use an average of 10-20mg of CBD per day. Please do not go over the 200mg food supplement daily limit.
How do I know how much to take?
Each person’s endocannabinoid system works differently and reacts differently with each person body. There is no straight, solid scientific information that states how much CBD you should be taking at any one time, always start off with a small dose and work your way up.
Height and weight play a part as well as the quality of the CBD oil. If you are bigger or taller than the average person you may need more and visa versa. Also, if you have smoked cannabis in the past you may feel like you need more.
Either way we advise you do not go over the daily dosage recommendation of 200mg.
Does it have any side effects or is it addictive?
A report last year by the World Health Organization declared that CBD is non-addictive, writing, “In humans, CBD exhibits no effects indicative of any abuse or dependence potential” and that “CBD is well-tolerated and safe for human consumption.”
Since CBD cannabinoids naturally occur in the body they therefore naturally work with the endocannabinoid system to control communication between cells and mediate body function. This means CBD is perfectly safe for children as well.
When it comes to taking CBD with other medications, we only ever advise one thing- if you are unsure, check with a medical professional before using it as it can, on occasion, interact with other medicines. Always stick to the recommended dose too and if you are taking other meds keep a two hour window between taking CBD and whatever else you take.
